Using air as a cooling media, air cooled heat exchangers are ideally suited for areas without reliable water supply or where cooling with water is not economical. Sovonex™ air coolers are tailor-made to individual customer requirements in accordance with ASME, TEMA, or API.

Sovonex™ air coolers, also called air fin coolers, are typically used in refineries, often operated together with our shell & tube heat exchangers and distillation columns. Other areas of application include the steel industry and power stations, as long as the outlet temperature is higher than the ambient air temperature.
Process fluid passes through one or more tubing bundles. Heat is transferred away from the fluid through means of large fans that are either installed below (forced draft) or above (induced draft) the tubing. Aluminum fins attached to each tube enlarge the surface area of the air cooler bundle, significantly increasing the effectiveness of the heat transfer.
This simple and elegant design makes Sovonex™ air coolers very easy to maintain and ensures a long service life.
Refinery equipment is what we are good, and with many years of experience, we able to design and build every component of your refinery system, including shell and tube heat exchangers and distillation towers.
We know what is important and where the pitfalls are. This enables us to tailor each air-cooled heat exchanger to your specific requirements and make sure it is delivered in full compliance with the specifications.
We can build our pressure vessels according to the following standards:
ASME Section VIII-1 | Rules for Construction of Pressure Vessels |
TEMA Class B | Pressure vessels for chemical process services |
TEMA Class C | Pressure vessels for general commercial applications |
TEMA Class R | Pressure vessels for the severe requirements of petroleum processing |
API 650 | Welded Steel Tanks for Oil Storage |
API 620 | Design and Construction of Large Welded Low Pressure Storage Tanks |
API 661 | Air-Cooled Heat Exchangers for General Refinery Service |
PED (97/23/EC) | European Standards Pressure Equipment Directive |
EN 13445 | Unfired Pressure Vessels (European standard) |
PD 5500 | "Specification for unfired, fusion welded pressure vessels" (British standard, formerly BS 5500) |
CSA B51 | Boiler, Pressure Vessel, and Pressure Piping Code (Canadian standard required for CRN registration) |
AS/NZS 1200 | Australian/New Zealand Pressure Equipment Standard |
